Stanley was one of the most colorful places we visited. We went by tenders from the Marco Polo, which hold about 100 people. The houses were painted in vibrant colors and the people colorfully dressed. Our guide was a real character. He delighted us with funny comments as he showed us the sights in and out of town, described the production of peat, and told us about some of the history of the Falklands, including the 1982 war with the Argentines. Land mines left over from the war are still in the ground.
