Robert Coles Nabors, 77, who spent 31 years working for Prince George's County public schools before retiring in 1988, died September 24 at his home in Fort Washington. Mr. Nabors spent most of his career in school administration, though he was also a teacher and counselor. As Director of Pupil Services, the post he held upon retirement, he oversaw supervisors in Guidance and Counseling as well as Pupil Personnel and other departments.
    He was trained in his native Nashville, TN, at George Peabody College for Teachers, and in 1954 earned a Bachelor's Degree in music education and a Master's Degree in educational administration. In his early years he was a vocal soloist and professional violinist. He played violin in the Nashville Symphony as a young man.
    He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
    He enjoyed many hobbies and avocations, including computer programming, digital photography, traveling, square dancing, tennis, golf, painting, flying private airplanes, and home building. He saw nine total solar eclipses and visited all seven continents during his travels. His memberships included Davies Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church in Camp Springs.
    Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Martha Irene Goldschmidt "Tahleen" Nabors of Fort Washington; two sons, Keith Nabors of Santa Clara, CA and Eric Nabors of Farmington, CT; and one sister Rebecca Ann "Becky" Wiggs, of Nashville, TN.
